HI! I'm Luka. I'll bet you thought I was

THE OSTOMY GUY!

No, That's my Grandpa...Marklin Jones

and he's a really nice guy.

See him in that picture there?

And he was awarded

DFW "Great 100 Nurses" In 2022!

So he's a guy you can trust.

 He's been doing OSTOMY

a  L-O-N-G Time .  .  .

So he has experience for all kinds of problems.

And he will help fix whatever needs fixing for you, too!

I think you will like him.

It is my pleasure and honor to be writing about my friend and colleague who has helped me for over a decade in the inpatient and outpatient settings to care for complex patients with ostomy and wound care needs. I came to know Marklin over a decade ago when I was working as a general surgeon attending in Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth. He cared for my patients with ostomy and wound care issues. As I became the director of the wound care clinic at Harris Methodist Fort Worth, I had the pleasure of interacting with him as he cared for the patients in the outpatient setting. As I have moved over to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital HEB, I have had comfort knowing that Marklin has cared for my patients with his skills. He considers

the whole person and not just the ostomy or the wound. He has always provided excellent care, and feedback from patients about Mr. Jones’ care has always been glowing and beyond satisfactory. His bedside manner and knowledge base is excellent and unparalleled. I am very saddened to see him leave us but he will serve the community of patients with ostomy needs better in his new venture. If one of my patients or family members would need ostomy care, I will be referring them to Marklin.

I will miss him dearly.

" I have known Marklin Jones for 25 years. We worked together in the care of Ostomy and wound care patients for a number of years. Mark has always been a most competent WOCN nurse but he also practices with compassion and concern for his patients’ well being. He is innovative and always working for the best solutions for his patients. He will be a great resource in the Ostomy community for all patients."

Pouching Issues?  Skin Issues?  Need Education & Training?

While serving my Inpatients, I discovered there just wasn't many services available to Ostomy patients providing the skills of an experienced specialist. Conditions that contribute to confusion for the patient are typical:

  • The "newness" of the situation
  • anesthetic fog
  • fear
This leaves the patient now at home with no one to ask.  Most post-operative pouching complications arise as
